We have had a fantastic day today, the best one of our trip so far I believe. We started our day with a boat ride to Murano. This is the island that famous for its glass blowing. They are the ones who make the glass beads for Pandora. The beads are actually made from recycled glass- all the bits left over from the larger glass creations.
There were so many pretty things to look at. I can't imagine living here, I could have the colourfulest house ever!
We got to actually see some of the local men working with the glass.
There were so many shops selling so many different pieces, I could have spent a lot of money here- - good thing none of this would make it home in one peice in my backpack!
It was another gorgeous day weatherwise, we have been so lucky, sunshine and warm everyday.
After Murano we headed to Burano, a another little island that is full of the most colourful houses you have ever seen. Thank you so much to Ellen for letting me know about it. It was a great find.
We walked around here for a couple of hours, checking out all the little shops and houses and we had some lunch. The sights really were astonishing, so very colourful.
Next we headed into Venice. It's really neat being around all the water. There are so many bridges and twists and turns in the streets.
We had more gelato and saw some gondola drivers.
We found St Marks square. There were so many birds there! The birds are not at all afraid of the people and will fly within inches of your head. This takes a bit of getting used to. We weren't brave enough to try and have any land on us and we found out later that it is actually an unhealthy thing to do but it was neat to see this brave little girl just getting right into it.
They have a lot of Venetian masks around for sale. I think they are creepy but Nicole was willing to try one on for a picture.
We had our last pasta dinner from Italy sitting along the grand canal tonight. It was delicious as usual. It was a pretty calm, uneventful, nice day of walking and sightseeing finished with a great dinner.

Can't stop looking at that photo that you put as your cover photo. There is so much to see in it. Then when I got to the bottom of your blog and saw the wineglass, I was blown away by the reflection of the buildings. Perfect. Bet you are really glad that Venice was on your itinerary.
