Day 12

We were up and out the door, on the train to Venice by 9:30 this morning.

We had reserved seats on the train in first class which cost us €10 each, we were looking forward to a nice relaxing ride. When we got on the the train there was a man asleep in one of ours seats, I mean really, deeply, sound asleep. We were worried he had slept through his stop. After some humming and hawing we decided to wake him him up. Well he was not a happy camper let me tell you! He was thoroughly convinced that the seat was his and totally annoyed that we had bothered him. I had to get in the seat next to him and Ryan and Nicole found another free seat. He mumbled under his breath at me for the next half an hour, I kid you not. When the train conductor finally arrived to check our tickets half way through the trip the guy up and disappeared- just another train adventure for the storybooks I guess.

Now this is what I have been looking forward to-my first views of Venice as we stepped out the train station were exactly what I had been hoping for, water, sun, colours, it's all right here.

We stayed in the city for lunch before heading to the island where our B&B is located. This is what an individual pizza and beer looks like here.

Nicole and Ryan managed to eat all of theirs but there was no way I could finish mine.

We scoped out the water bus situation. It's very cool. The transit system is exactly like any other city except it is all boats instead of busses. It takes two boats to get to our island. About a 50 minute trip. The views are amazing, I am looking forward to getting some good shots tomorrow. We couldn't stand in the passage way today because of our luggage.

We got off the boat on this beautiful island. It is so lush and green and full of growing things. We walked down a road for 15 minutes and found the B&B.

We got the lay of the land from the owner, put our stuff in our room then it was time to explore! They have bikes that you can use to tour the island. Mine was a cute old blue one with a basket and no brakes lol.

We rode around for an hour just taking in all the sights and smells. There are tons of little farms, ducks and roosters, flowers and of course, water all around.

I found a cute little place I could live in.

I could look at this view everyday, the snow covered mountains in the background.

We tried to take some cool shadow shots on the bikes.

It was a nice, relaxing, perfect day. I can't wait to explore the city tomorrow.

  1. I wait every day for your blog to appear. But I was really anticipating today. It looks like you had the best time. What a great place. And still you get to have that great Italian food.

Spero che ti piace il tuo giro in gondola
