We were happy to discover that none of our trains had reservation fees this time. It is a bit frustrating to have to pay extra on top of your already not cheap Eurail pass. Our passes are first class so that is a nice perk. The seats are bigger and more comfortable and the cars are usually less full. All 3 of our trains today were really quiet- we did a lot of reading and napping this trip.
We had a two hour stop in the Zurich airport train station so we had lunch in the food court there. Again with it being Switzerland the costs were crazy. We ended up paying €24 for mcdonalds which was the cheapest thing we could find.
We had fun walking around the airport, it was very nice. There was a lot of security there so it felt very safe. I even found myself on candid camera!
We discovered our last train of the day actually had a stop in Austria. Since this country was not covered in our Eurail pass we had to pay a fee of €12 each to ride through the country. Nicole and I decided to physically make it one of our stops so we could officially count it in our country count so we got off the train and actually stood on Austrian land.
We found our hostel in Munich no problem. It is not as nice as our last hostel but we were pretty spoilt there. I think I could win the award for being the oldest person here. It is not all teenagers but there isn't many over 30's that we have seen.
It reminds me of summer camp. There are bunkbeds and communal showers. We rented towels. There are cages under the beds where you can lock your stuff up. There are two other people in the room with us but we haven't meet them yet.
We redid our plans for the next few days. We had panned a side trip to go and see a castle in Germany but decided to give that a pass. It was a lot of travelling around and cost and it meant we would only have 1 day in Munich do do everything we want to do here. We are staying here for 3 nights now and will have 2 full days in Germany.

Nice to be settled in for 3 nights again. You will have tried out every train in Europe soon. Lots of changing, you both are becoming experts. Don't know and haven't heard much about Germany travel. Be interesting to see what you find.
